A decade plus one and still going strong

Maclean Landcare Group Incorporated is coming up to its 11th year and has developed into an organisation that will continue as long as there are people in this community that believe in the regeneration of native plants.

Our latest committee wish to extend our thanks to all those who came before us and would welcome a visit from you anytime we are open.

One of our objectives is to maintain the Maclean Lookout and the Pinnacles, making sure there are few weeds and planting native vegetation to ensure that weed infestation does not take a hold.

Maclean Landcare Group also care for a nursery on council property at Townsend which is also manned by volunteers. The nursery is open on Thursday and Friday mornings. All plants from the nursery are grown on site from seed which has been locally sourced. Those plants are used for the regeneration of areas that has suffered erosion or other factors. In past two years we have assisted Lawrence Landcare by donating trees for the cricket ground and golf club to establish a corridor for the local koala community.

Plans for this year are already underway where seven of our members completed a first aid course last week

Our next event will be on February 23 at the Showground where we will give a plant to anyone who can bring in a weed for identification.

We are also in the final stages of paperwork to obtain clearance to regenerate an area above Islay Street Maclean which was proven to be illegally cleared.

If you have any queries regarding Maclean Landcare Group Inc please email us at macleanlandcare@gmail.com and we will reply to all emails in due course.

It is not so hard being green.
