A breakfast of masters

Clarence River Masters Swimming Club held their annual breakfast at Yamba Surf Club on the beautiful Main Beach on November 16.

Always a great social event with lots of laughs and banter; this year it was well attended with over over 50 members. Andre, from the Beach Kiosk

provided a delicious cooked breakfast.

There were many awards presented, from timekeepers certificates to inspector of turns. President Jane Lawrence said “Its great for our club to gain these certificates, to have qualified members for our carnival and for attending other carnivals. This shows a wonderful dedication from members.”

Dedicated swim member Lynne Johnston received her Inspector of Turns certificate which is required for carnival competition. Helmut Klein, Bob Watters and Ken Adams were acknowledged for their reaccreditations, gained at the recent Port Macquarie Swim Carnival. Well done guys!

Again, we had a record number of members swim in the West Auburn Turtle Swim, with 31 members swimming in numerous relays,  500m, 1000m, 1250m and 2500m distances were covered. Unfortunately no 5000m individual swims this year.  Many members achieved distances they have not attempted before. Certificates and a gift were handed out for these swims. This years “gift” was a foam sun visor which provided many members with lot of creative fun,  and interesting uses for them!

A reminder the Annual General Meeting will be held at the Yamba Surf Club 10am on Saturday December 7.

CRMS Club Christmas party will be held at Maclean Pool Wednesday December 18 after a short swim. It’s BYO drinks and plate of finger food.
