3 years of Hockey Championships!

We love hockey in the Clarence Valley, so it’s pretty exciting that Clarence Valley Council has signed an agreement with Hockey NSW to host a State Championships event each year for the next 3 years. The first event , the Under 13 Boys State Championships is scheduled for 7 – 10 July 2016. It will attract in the vicinity of 1,250 people to the Clarence Valley and provide an economic benefit in the order of $1,210,000 direct spend from the visitor economy. For a hosting fee of $8,500, that’s not a bad return on investment! This is all part of Council’s Sports Tourism Program. And this time around, it was easy to say yes to host the hockey due to the support from our 8 business partners, whose contributions are helping to grow the Sports Tourism Program and provide greater economic benefits to the Clarence Valley. Our thanks to Australia Post (Yamba and Grafton), Angourie Rainforest Resort, Blue Dolphin Holiday Resort, GJ Gardner, Holiday Coast Meats & Small Goods, Kitchen to Table, McPhee Print Yoohoo Designs and our media partner, Clarence Valley Independent.
