The Years 7 and 8 Maclean High School debating teams recently travelled upriver to compete against South Grafton High School in the first round of the 2019 Premier’s Debating Challenge.
In the first debate, The Maclean A team took the negative position on the topic that all technology be banned in the classroom, skilfully constructing a solid argument that resulted in a win. In the second debate, the Maclean B team took the negative position on the topic that NAPLAN tests be banned. Despite presenting a convincing argument, they were narrowly defeated. It was a valuable experience for both of our teams, who are now eager to develop their debating skills in the next round.
All students were proud representatives of Maclean High School and deserve to be congratulated for their efforts.
