104 Reasons to Celebrate
Janet ‘Jean’ Gilbert celebrated her 104th birthday on Friday October 2, surrounded by family, friends and the staff of the UnitingCare Caroona Yamba Hostel.
Jean’s family said she still has a passion for football and loves a glass of red wine at the end of each day.
She was hoping that the Cowboys would win the NRL grand final on Sunday….Yippee.
Jean was one of seven children, five girls and two boys, and was born at Bowraville on October 2, 1911.
She has witnessed world changing events during her lifetime. She walked the Sydney Harbour Bridge on its opening in 1932, saw the invention of radio and television, and lived through two world wars.
